João Menezes (b.1989, Cantanhede, Portugal): He began his career in 2004 in the course of the Technical Multimedia in the Instituto Técnico e Artísitco Profissional de Coimbra from which he graduated with distinction, being awarded an international scholarship.

In 2010, he graduated in Electronic Music and Musical Production at School of Applied Arts of Castelo Branco (Esart), approaching domains like Musical Composition and Production, Musical Programming, Sound Synthesis and Digital Interactive Systems with lecturers such as Carlos Guedes, Rui Dias, and Gustavo Costa, among others.

Since 2010, he is a member of Digitópia at the Casa da Música Foundation, where he is a member of Digitópia Collective as well as a tutor and developer of the Digitópia Platform. He recently finished his MSc in Interactive Music and Sound Design with high distinction from the Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto, attending courses with lectures such as Carlos Guedes, Bruce Pennycook, and Andy Garrison, among others. His Master's Thesis resulted in SonData, a toolkit for Interactive Data Sonification for Max/MSP and Jamoma.

Nowadays, he focuses his interests in Musical Composition, Alternative Interfaces, Automatic Music Generation Systems, and Interactive Installations. His recent work makes use of real-time data, captured either by sensors or gathered from a internet database, as a basis for digital narratives.
