DEMO (Dispositivo Experimental, Multidisciplinar e Orgânico) is born in 2010, from a group of six performers who have had individual training in many different academic areas but a shared common formation in theatre made in and by CITAC (Círculo de Iniciação Teatral da Academia de Coimbra) between 2004 and 2011.

Since then, they have been developing projects in performative and visual arts. Elements composing DEMO have had formal education in the plastic arts, graphic arts, communication design, theatre – stage direction/interpretation, primary teaching, international relations and european studies.

Gathered during the group’s consolidation period, DEMO also has the regular collaboration of a wide range of partners, coming whether from the arts or the social sciences, namely Ricardo Seiça Salgado (Performer/Anthropologist PHd in Anthropology by ISCTE in Performing Studies), Patrick Murys (actor, stage director and researcher), João vasco Paiva (Visual Artist, master in fine Arts in Creative Media, in the School of Creative Media City University of Hong Kong, founder of the gallery Double Happiness). João Menezes (Musical Composition and Production, Musical Programming, Sound Synthesis and Digital Interactive Systems). This group of collaborators consolidates and assures the multidisciplinary character of DEMO’s cultural and artistic works, but its purpose is to widen the network even further, reaching out to other Portuguese and international collaborations, during the development of its planned activities.
